I have been working at Tiffany & Co. full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Exciting, rewarding place to work. I am proud to work for such a well respected, global company. Tiffany is growing and changing.

    Cons

Training and development isn't always available. The salary and benefits are good when compared to the retail industry but not to other world leading corporations.

I have been working at Tiffany & Co. full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

To be a part of a customer's memorable experience is fantastic. The quality of the merchandise allows me to work with great pride. There are wonderful resources on the company intranet so that you can learn at your own pace and enhance your own skills and your customer's visits. Tiffany attracts sales people who have passion and a wish to give great customer service.

    Cons

There seems to be little compassion now for sales staff who feel like numbers not people. Graded harshly on everything by upper management on how you acknowledge a customer to challenges making sales targets. During challenging economic times there is little empathy and even the most experienced sales people are lacking confidence.
Due to this pressure much work is done outside working hours to build client books so that whilst in work we can stay on the floor and sell.

    Advice to Management

Show that you are proud of your employees. Openly celebrate those of us who meet sales goals so that our hard work is acknowledged rather than just expected. The managers in store seem to have such a heavy work load due to pressure from above. Give stores more people and use the carrot not the stick to build motivation. A few years ago I would have recommended this as a great place to work. I will not do so now which is a great shame.

    Pros

    Icon in the retail industry
    Excellent customer service
Great place to learn about customer management and service
    Quality products

    Cons

Tiffany has yet to understand the value of employee engagement and how treating employees with respect pays dividends. Staff conditions were deplorable: no place to sit to have lunch/while on break, not allowed to heat up any food and the culture was "customers first, employees last" fostering employee mentality and soli thinking. Some examples: asked "why do you care?" when I tried fixing an IT problem since I didn't work in IT, management throwing away flowers rather than letting staff take them home (against company policy) etc.

I worked at Tiffany & Co. (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    Respectful and professional culture.
Good processes that keep business (and drama) under control.
    Work/Life balance and competitive benefits.
Management teams recognize hard work and treat employees nicely

    Cons

Management roles are scarce due to lack of rotation and advancement opportunities.

    Advice to Management

Rotate managers and encourage them to leave their comfort zone. Many managers and directors stay in their roles for decades killing any hopes of advancing for their teams.
